Once you have added you photos to the Doyle Park Group (see www.doylepark.com/dogpark/faqs/photos.html for more info) you should check their size and content to make sure they do not take up too much space and are of general interest. |

From the thumbnails screen, double click on the photo you are going to review.

Just below the photo you will see the photo name, when it was posted and size information on the photo itself. There may be two or three sizes shown depending on the size of the photo you uploaded. Yahoo groups automatically creates a thumbnail and intermediate photo as necessary when the photo is uploaded.

Be sure to look at these sizes to determine how much space is being consumed, you must add all 3 size together to get total space used.

In this example it's 1KB plus 16KB
plus 35KB for a total of 52KB.

Double click on the intermediate image and, if there is a large version of the image, it will be displayed. Notice at the top there is a link to "Delete full size only." In almost every case, the large image should be deleted because the intermediate is usually fine for sharing and you'll be saving space for others to load photos.
An even better idea is to trim the photo before uploading it eliminating excessive borders and focusing on the subjects of the photo. Our example above has been trimmed to eliminate the foreground grass and contrast enhanced to bring out the subjects better. When this trimmed version was uploaded there was no need for an intermediate image and there was a net savings of 32KB in storage space.
